FAST TRACK MEDICAL TRAINING CENTER CNA PROGRAM

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • CNA programs in California generally range from 6 to 12 weeks depending on the institution and schedule (full-time or part-time).
  • Programs consist of theory classes and clinical training. Students usually complete around 60 hours of classroom instruction and 100 hours of supervised clinical training.

REQUIRMENTS

  • Minimum age: Typically 16 to 18 years old.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is usually required, though some programs may admit students without one.
  • Background check: Students must pass a background check, TB test AND COVID Test
  • Physical exam: A physical examination and immunizations are often required before beginning clinical training.

CURRICULUM

CNA courses focus on:

  • Basic nursing skills: Bathing, dressing, feeding, and moving patients.
  • Vital signs monitoring: Learning to measure blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
  • Infection control: Best practices for preventing the spread of disease.
  • Patient safety and rights: Understanding the ethical and legal responsibilities of a CNA.
  • Basic medical terminology: Understanding common healthcare terms.
  • Emergency procedures: CPR, basic first aid, and handling medical emergencies.
  • Nutrition and hygiene: Helping patients with their nutritional and personal care needs.

TESTING AND CERTIFICATION

  • After completing the course, students must pass the California CNA certification exam, which consists of a written test and a practical skills assessment.
  • The exam is administered by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
  • Once certified, CNAs must renew their certification every two years and complete 48 hours of continuing education.
